Good point about first impressions. We're better off to make sure we design our cards to put our best foot forward.

i just saw a video and the gentleman paid alot of money on his business card and showed several of his old cards that did absolutely nothing for him,he said that investing in a good made, well thought out...business card made a HUGE difference and It was the best card I had ever seen,I never gave thought to how important it is,but it is the sometimes first and last thing that you can give someone and it can make or break whether they keep it or hold on to it for further use or referral to another....so I need to really focus on that next....Good suggestion......Thank you Kathy

@Dennis: Good point. I was thinking totally from a woman's point of view because we just usually stick everything in our purse! The whole idea is to grab their attention and pique their interest enough that they will take the card back to their computer and look up your website. As a woman, if I notice a great design it catches my attention first, then I will move on to reading the tag line. If it's a boring, plain old card I generally don't even give it a second glance unless I'm sitting totally bored and have nothing else to look at. :)

"You could possibly look into cards in different shapes and sizes and think how you can tie your business in with that."

Different is good, but be careful here. Depending on how/where you hand them out you don't want it to be difficult for them to store it...if it can't fit easily in a shirt pocket or wallet, they may just toss it as soon as you're out of sight.
