4 Tips to Regain Lost Marketing Momentum During Life Challenges

momentum 300x203 4 Tips to Regain Lost Marketing Momentum During Life ChallengesThis is a test.  A test of my character, my strength, and my tenacity.

These are the words I spoke to myself while making an unexpected drive to California to pick up my three children from an early end to their “vacation”.

Have you ever been through an experience that left you so drained that you question how you will ever get back on track?  You know you need to keep your business or blog running but your every thought is on the personal challenges and emotions pulling for attention.  With every pull you feel less inclined to focus on your marketing and before you know it days, weeks or even months slip by.

4 Tips to Regain Lost Marketing Momentum:

  1. Allow yourself the time off you need to  properly deal with the situation at hand and recover. This doesn’t mean you take three months off to have a pity party.  However, if there are issues that need to be dealt with, emotions that need to be faced, and relationships that need attention, it would do no good to rush back to work and leave these unattended to.  I have talked about focus before and how, at times, multitasking could actually worse for your efficiency.  This would be one of those times.
  2. Stay atop of what’s going on in your niche and community. Although you may not be ready to engage with the same amount of energy you had pre-event, it will easier to re-engage if you stay knowledgeable of current news or trends for your niche. You might also come across a piece of news that sparks your interest enough to jump back into the mix.
  3. Check the posts made to your social networks and stay responsive.  I know for myself, that on a normal day I stay active in my social networking, making several posts throughout the day relationship building, posting current news and interesting articles in my niche, and sharing other blog posts.  If it’s not possible to be the one bringing the news, articles, and beginning conversations…at least respond to some of the posts or comments directed to you.  It is important to stay visible to some extent.
  4. Take the plunge and dive back in. After a few days of laser focus on the activities you need to do to resolve any situation at hand, you really need to just bite the bullet and get back in the game.  Once you know you have done all you can do with your situation any extra time you take off will just increase the disconnect. Because you know inside that you’re ready to work, but you just don’t “want” to, the enemy procrastination sets in.  As A.L. Williams famous speech says:  “Just Do It”.

@Rob – You are definitely right! What’s that saying? What doesn’t kill you just makes you stronger! I know it can be difficult to get back on the horse after falling off, and then once you get back on to runt full force again…but if you really follow your heart that passion will get you going again. Thanks for sharing.

I’ll hang on to these suggestions for the next “thing” that hits me. Wish I’d had them 6 months ago — wouldn’t be digging out of quite as big a hole as I am right now!

And now, I’m going back in to check out some more of your posts. They all look so interesting… I feel like I’m at a buffet! Where to start?
