April Fools – Fool or Fooler?

Don’t you just hate it when you think you’ll never get fooled and then some smarty pants comes along and gets you to trust them?

Thanks to Jeremy at Shoemoney.com for making us all feel like fools! Well, some of us. His little gag was to say he’d sold his business and was moving to Portland to work for them. Now, for anyone who watches the series ‘Lost”, you would have mostly likely caught the clues, but not me.

He mentions commuting to an island via a sub. So, I think, how funny he is…so cute with his little jokes when he is probably so sad about the big change. Afterwards I see all the comments about April Fools, then Michael Dunlop from RetireAt21.com informs me of the obvious ‘Lost’ clues, adding to my naivety. Boy, guess I need to get with the times!

To make myself feel a little better, I pulled a great April Fool’s joke on a couple co-workers at the office. I had our Project Manager, Joe, pacing the conference room when I called him on his cell and convinced him our biggest rival and arch enemy had snagged me away for triple my salary and a move to Hawaii. All the while our Sales Director is watching from his office giving me the detailed expression on Joe’s face. Priceless.

The best part, though, was after I told him it was a joke, he wouldn’t believe me and thought I sounded too real for it to not be true. I had to spend 15 minutes convincing him it was all good. Ahhh…the drawbacks of being a good bs’er.

So, what was your April Fool’s day like? Were you the Fool, the Fooler, or both?

I was amazed at how many bloggers got into the spirit of April Fools. Must admit I got taken by one or two. I definitely can see Shoe pulling one.

Thanks for the insight. Actually, I think the observations are trans-gender in application. No one responds positively to the negs.

Now, just because I am me, I will point out that “retarded” is a word that the PC masters have said is a no-no. Take it back, dammit.

@William: Wow…I didn’t even think about the “r” word being taken that way!! Thanks for pointing that out and I’m replacing it with…hmmmm….”dumb”. Oh wait, that may be offensive too. Let’s see…”lame”? No, no…that won’t do either. Hmmm, ‘making us all feel like dorks’….much better….or, errr…maybe not, isn’t that another word for…. Oh, the tribulations of a blogger. ;-) I take it back, and it has been edited.
