Becoming An Online Entrepreneur – Finding Valuable Sources
We’ve all had those days where we wonder if we’re really on the track to success and question if our efforts will bring a winner’s results. Where do we find support to help us in our entrepreneurial dream?
I’ll tell you from experience that if you’ve been working in a certain field and you’d like to now turn your experience into a business, that experience is NOT the same as actually putting it to use on your own business. It’s much different doing these things for yourself than it is telling your clients HOW to do them. Now it’s your livelihood at stake. Your business. Your pocketbook.
All of a sudden you’re faced with the reality that if it doesn’t work your business will be a flop. The Internet is constantly moving, changing and evolving. You either move fast and keep up or get left behind. As a solopreneur that can take a lot of time.
Generally speaking you will fall into one of two categories as a new entrepreneur:
1. More Money, Less Time – You have deep pockets, or at least a nest egg to rely on to get through the building process and make the purchases you may need to succeed. You can pay for convenience. If this is you skip to The Middle Road section.
2. More Time, Less Money – You’re a solopreneur or feeling pretty solo anyway because it’s just you and your brain to get things done. The pockets have only enough in them to cover daily expenses but you have some extra time to do the researching you need to do to gain expert knowledge. If this is you see the good news below.
The Good News
The good news is that there is a plethora of free information available from everywhere you turn on the Internet. Google search can bring the answers you are seeking in just moments. The bad news is that all the information you need to succeed is never all in one spot or from one person’s blog. (I know I’m pretty helpful, but doubt you’ll find all your answers from me alone, right?)
Try different keywords to pull up varied sources. Once you find a site you find valuable be sure to bookmark and tag it. I’ve found the best way to bookmark is to use Delicious or a similar social bookmarking service. My Foxfire bookmarks become too crowded and don’t show as much to refresh my memory on what, exactly, was on that site that I liked.
Almost everything you need to know is out there. The hard part is searching for material that will really be valuable and is not just an opinion. You may need step by step instructions or video tutorials depending on how you learn. The filtering can be VERY time consuming.
The Bad News
You may not have that kind of time on your hands to do the necessary filtering of information. Time is money, remember? Even if you are finding the right resources, the time you’ve just spent on researching could have been spent writing content, producing presentations, marketing collateral, building relationships and much more.
Sometimes you have no other choice and finances are really so tight that you just have to take the slow road. Even if that means the take off of your business is delayed by a year or more. In that case you just do what you have to and stay up long hours. I’ve spent many a night up til 3 or 5am researching how to fix technical bugs on my blog, so I know what it is to make that sacrifice.
The Middle Road
The convenience of having ALL the information you need to gain a full understanding of a subject, including steps on how to implement and see fast results can sometimes be costly. Too many times the free content is just a generic opinion and not experienced instruction.
If you were to take the time to gather all this information and present it in a well organized series of tutorials, fact based articles, videos and/or webinars, wouldn’t you agree that the time you spent would be worth paying for? And if this information was provided by proven experts that have made their business successful and mentored many more to do the same, wouldn’t that be great to get your hands on?
Online Profits Course Launched Today
I’ve just found a group of internet marketers and bloggers that I’m very impressed with. Not because they are gurus, but because they are able to teach what they know in a “real-guy/gal” type of instruction. It’s an Internet Marketing and Online Business training program called Online Profits.
The course was actually created by Daniel Scocco from Daily Blog Tips and a few other successful blogs, but what’s special about this group is that it’s made up of mentors who are experts in a number of fields relevant to growing an online business. The mentors and their expertise are:
- Daniel Scocco – Online Marketing
- Michael Gray – SEO
- Neil Patel – Linkbuilding
- Yaro Starak – Email Marketing
- Chris Garrett – Online Communities
- Tamar Weinberg – Social Media
- Hamlet Batista – SEO
- Zac Johnson – Affiliate Marketing
- Courtney Tuttle - Keyword Research
- Nathan Rice – Web Design
I really like this approach – instead of basing the course around one or two people with great experience in a couple of things but only a general knowledge in other important aspects of internet marketing – Daniel has assembled a group of experts in numerous fields who together will offer an amazing collective wisdom and set of experiences to the community.
The course is only open to the first 300 Members and last year it sold out in 3 days. Be sure to head over and check it out right away if you’re interested. You can see all the details here.
This group of mentors consists of people that I recommend everyday on Twitter and have mentioned in my blog before. The links I’ve included are my affiliate links, but I would recommend this team (and I do) whether I was paid to do so or not. Do yourself a favor, save yourself precious research time, and check out Online Profits before you decide you can’t afford it.
Can you afford NOT to have expert help? What is the cost of holding up your business for months or even years without proper guidance? There is a 30 day money back guarantee and you’re able to withdraw from the course at any point and only pay up to the point you’ve participated in.
See all the courses offered and find full details here.
