Social Media Success Summit 2009 – Why I Need To Go
When I wrote my last post, 2 Reasons Facebook is Highly Overrated, I really had little intention to write this post today. In my last post the frustration and possibly a bit of cynicism were the underlying tones as I vented about my views on Facebook. Perhaps it was just my way of letting the Universe know I need guidance in the social media arena.
It may just be that the Universe has answered, because I am now entering a contest by Charles Bohannan of Wordful. Charles is the proud winner of two tickets from Chris Garrett’s contest to go to the Social Media Summit 2009. Charles is giving away one of his tickets via a contest of his own and has asked participants to answer 3 basic questions in a blog post by 6pm tonight. I am going to give it a shot in the hopes that I can pick up where I left off and mend my social media mess.
The questions asked and my responses are below:
1. What’s your single greatest challenge with blogging?
When I go to sleep at night the last question rolling around my head is, ‘Coree, what are you going to write about tomorrow that will be helpful to other women (and men) and allow you to carve a niche for yourself in the marketing world?”. 99% of the comments on my blog are from men. Not that it’s a bad thing…but my whole purpose of starting this blog was to rally women together to say “We are a voice to be reckoned with. We are pro’s, we understand people, and we are a team”. So, my challenge is, how to rally the female masses and provide great content for all of us to share, learn, laugh and grow from.
2. How will the Social Media Success Summit help you overcome this challenge?
If women have been known to be any one thing, it’s social. I believe social media is the diamond that can be a girl’s best friend in forming relationships, partnerships and life long friends. If I knew how to use it correctly, instead of getting overwhelmed and frustrated, social media would be instrumental in rallying women together and provide the pulse to know what women want to hear. I would treasure the teaching from everyone, but especially from successful women like Mari Smith, Denise Wakeman, and Ann Handley who have carved their own niches.
3. How do you envision your success online?
I see myself as a woman that anyone can come to for honest (and blunt) marketing advice, a place to find empowerment to face the next day, and a friend to identify with in the online marketing world. I would like to see my blog being a place where women (and men) connect on many levels.
I am getting a bit long-winded and need to keep this under 500 words. So, I will end by saying congratulations again to Charles, and thanks to you and Chris Garrett for your generosity. Pick me! ![]()
