What Everybody Ought to Know About Women Marketers

One of the most common questions or comments I get is “So, what is different about the way women market?”  While I will acknowledge that both sexes share some marketing qualities, women have certain traits or characteristics that are built in at birth.  However, whether you are male or female, the first thing a successful entrepreneur needs to do is find out how to turn what some may view as weakness into strengths and uniqueness.   All those quirks and obsessions make up your unique business personality and set you up in your own niche. Celebrate your authenticity!

One woman I’ve found to be an inspiration and a leader is Lorrie Thomas, a self-proclaimed “wild web woman” and principal of an all female (and fabulous!) marketing agency.     It’s funny to see this video, I was so sick when I keynoted the Women’s Economic Ventures event, I am pale, but yeesch, I was scary pale that day! (I critique my YouTube videos like a chick too!)

    Lorrie has been THE biggest influence on my business. I started my business in 2004, and I think I brought Lorrie in during 2006 – at first for a new website design (my first professionally designed website) and her passion and expertise and complete understanding of who I am and what my business is all about led to me blogging (Lorrie’s idea!) and really branding myself. Today the top 5 keywords for people finding my website all involve iterations of my name and my business name and 94,000 people read my blog last year! Lorrie’s team does everything for me – my web updates, shopping cart management, business cards, logo design, they get me tweeting and putting press releases out into the world. Next up, Lorrie’s team is managing my book release!
